Summary
This article mainly studies the adsorption of different infusion drugs by infusion set materials, so as to make better selection and application in clinical practice.
If the infusion set of a certain material has a serious adsorption effect on the drug, another part of the drug will be adsorbed and adhered to the wall of the tube, which will reduce the efficacy of the drug and affect the therapeutic effect. Therefore, the following mainly studies the adsorption of different infusion drugs by infusion set materials, so as to make better selection and application in clinical practice.
1. Circulatory system drugs
Some researchers have studied the adsorption of nitroglycerin and diazepam on various material infusion sets. The results show that within the first minute, the adsorption capacity of DEHP plasticized PVC infusion set to nitroglycerin is 47% of its initial amount, respectively. The adsorption capacity of diazepam was 47% of its initial amount. TPE infusion set, PE infusion set, and PP infusion set have almost no adsorption to the two substances.
Some researchers used the TPE infusion set and PVC infusion set respectively to simulate clinical infusion operation and found that nitroglycerin, nimodipine, and isosorbide mononitrate injection had an obvious loss of liquid components after PVC infusion set. There is almost no loss of liquid after passing through the TPE infusion set. The infusion sets of the two materials did not adsorb dobutamine hydrochloride and furosemide.
2. Sedatives and pain relievers
Some researchers used PVC infusion tubes and non-PVC infusion tubes to perform adsorption experiments on clonazepam, a mixed solution of clonazepam and morphine, and normal saline was used as a control. It was found that when both solutions flowed through the PVC infusion set, clonazepam was lost, and the highest adsorption rate was 50%, while the two solutions hardly adsorbed in non-PVC pipes.
Some researchers simulated clinical infusion and made diazepam injection slowly pass through the PVC infusion set. The results showed that the infusion set had an adsorption effect on diazepam, and the degree of adsorption was proportional to the time.
Some researchers flowed the 0.9% sodium chloride solution containing chlorpromazine or promethazine through the PVC infusion tube, and then measured the concentration of the effluent. The slower, the longer the infusion tube, the greater the adsorption capacity.
According to reports, the adsorption of chlorpromazine by materials such as PVC, PP, high-density polyethylene, and glass was determined, and it was found that PVC had the largest adsorption of chlorpromazine.
3. Antibiotics
Studies have shown that the total amount of ciprofloxacin lactate does not change significantly before and after the PVC and TPE infusion sets, indicating that there is no adsorption.
Another researcher investigated the adsorption of meropenem by four infusion bags: glass bottle, PVC, PP, and non-polyvinyl chloride composite film soft bag. When meropenem was compatible with glucose injection, the solution in the PVC soft bag was in After 8 hours at 5°C and 5 hours at room temperature, it turns yellowish.
The solution in the PP plastic bottle turns yellowish after 7 hours at room temperature, and the rest remains unchanged. When compatible with sodium chloride injection, the adsorption capacity of PVC soft bag is greater than that of PP plastic bottle and non-PVC composite film soft bag.
4. Chinese medicine injection
The researchers added three traditional Chinese medicine injections of Danhong, Danshen, and Guanxinning into the infusion of 5% glucose injection containing four materials (polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, three-layer co-extruded composite film, and glass) respectively, and placed them for 24 hours.
Compared with the glass container, the polymer material infusion container has the adsorption ability to the drug, the PVC material has stronger adsorption to the drug, and the PVC material and the non-PVC three-layer co-extruded composite film also has the adsorption ability to the drug, but lower than PVC.
Another researcher selected 1300 patients with traditional Chinese medicine preparations, 650 patients in the experimental group used PE infusion sets, and 650 patients in the control group used PVC infusion sets. The results showed that using PE infusion sets is an effective measure to reduce infusion reactions.
5. Biological products
The researchers added a 5% glucose solution to the PVC infusion bag of urokinase in 20 to 30 minutes after the concentration of urokinase decreased by 15% to 20%, while the concentration of urokinase in PP bags and glass bottles did not decrease within 24 hours.
Another researcher investigated the adsorption of insulin on PVC infusion sets and PE infusion sets and found that the adsorption of PVC infusion sets was more serious and the larger the surface area of the PVC infusion sets, the more serious the adsorption, while the PE infusion sets had almost no adsorption effect.
In view of the serious adsorption effect of PVC infusion sets on the above drugs, it is recommended to avoid the use of PVC infusion sets when an intravenous infusion of the above drugs. BQ+ can provide infusion sets without PVC materials.
